Hi,

I have an old Condor that needs a new motor mount. I believe it was a 13mm. I cannot find a packaged 13mm mount kit that will fit a BT-50. Any ideas?

Fliskits sell a 13mm mount for BT-50, EMK-13-50:

Otherwise it's easy enough to scratch-build a motor mount. All you need is about 44mm / 1.75" of BT-5, a couple of centring rings which you can cut from cardboard, and optionally a retaining hook or a motor block. The motor block is simply about 6mm / 1/4" cut off the front end of an expended 13mm motor. Cut a slit about 6mm / 14" from the top of the BT-5, push in the top of the retaining hook, then either wrap a bit of strong tape or glue a strip of heavy paper around the tube and hook to hold the hook in place. The motor block is glued into the top end of the tube; if you've fitted the hook as well, it will sit above the hook and prevent the hook from being pushed up by the motor. If you've got the instructions for the Condor, they will show in detail how to build the motor mount; all you need to do is buy the BT-5 and retaining hook, and scratch-build (or buy) the centring rings. (The Condor instructions do not call for the motor block.)

Thanks for the link. Seeing as I am just getting back into rocketry i don't have any BT-5 tube so the package mount probably is best for now. Probably will get more from them anyways based on the comments I've seen in the forum.

The Estes Condor (EST. 2075) has an 18mm. motor mount. I have the main body here, need to make 2 gliders for it some day.

I think that is a later model than the one I have. My Condor has a single glider and I made it around 1980ish.

That's easily enough solved.

This one?

My first thought was the one with the 18mm mount and two gliders, whose full name is ARV Condor and which was the only one I knew. But I also knew that Estes was making model rockets long before I was, and have a habit of re-using names, so I had a look at JimZ to see if there was an earlier Condor with a 13mm mount. There was. :)

Yes, that is it. Here is an actual picture:

Yes, problem is solved, just need to place my order. Thanks again.

My dad kept this rocket and several others for 30 years. One day he gives me the box and says "You want these?" Many good memories and reintroduced me to rocketry.
