Suggestion... why say sold instead of just removing the line?

Lately I've been seeing a lot of listing for a bunch of items.

Me, I just look at the original post.

Why keep:

I have for sale the following...

Really Cool Kit #1 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #2 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #3 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #4 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #5 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #6 - $119
Really Cool Kit #7 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #8 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #9 - SOLD

Instead of just deleting everything sold and just leaving:

I have for sale the following...

Really Cool Kit #6 - $119

:confused2:

Dang-I just saw one of those on E-bay. Can you believe that price? I have the really, really cool kit #10. I should just sell it and retire.

I like seeing the "sold" comment because if I was casually watching something, i know it got sold, rather than "what happened to that guy who was selling all those madcow rockets kits?". I suppose I could subscribe to a bunch of threads, but my laziness is much more passive than that.

What is annoying though is people who keep a running list of everything they've sold over a period of years (not this forum, but another one).. that I can't stand.

I guess so that everyone who was late to the party knows what they missed.

Who cares? If it bothers someone enough to write a post about it then don't bother looking at it......

Two reasons:

1) If you simply remove the item when it sells, you will invariably get 2 or more PMs asking what happened to that item
2) If the buyer backs out, you simply change it back to the original sale price

Take it from somebody who has done sales here, If you post a list and then alter the list as things change, people become confused. Once the list is posted, keep the list the same throughout, and change the status of each item. The example you provided may look silly, but it seems to be the best way to communicate.

How about, for readability, folks edit the post so that SOLD items all appear in a block at the bottom?

e.g:
"
Really Cool Kit #6 - $119

Really Cool Kit #1 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #2 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #3 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #4 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #5 - SOLD
Really Cool Kit #7 - SOLD

+1 on whut my girlfriend said!

I do like it when sellers leave the price; it helps me either figure out market value when I'm buying or selling. Or the dreaded "I would have bought it for more than that!"
