So I'm painting my rocket and I'm trying to get my fins a nice metallic. On smaller rockets, it doesn't much matter, but on this one, I did some larger fillets... Here's the question, do I mask at the bottom of the fillet, right at the body tube, or do I mask at the top of the fillet and leave the fillet the same color as the body tube? What do you do, and if you post pictures, it'll help.

Ya know... I have this same question. I usually paint the fin color to the body tube. I feel like it might look funny with the BT color raising up.

I tend to blend the fillet with the fin color masking lower down on the fillet.

I think it is a personal preference thing. That being said, for a metallic colored fin, I think the bottom of the filet would be my preference. (As if it is my rocket. :) )
