Planning on it like the sunrise!

I'm gonna park right next to you and keep you up all night. Payback for ROCstock.
Sharon and I will be there with new toys! Too bad the waiver is only 19,000 ft. Will have to wait til we get back to Eagle Eye to bring out the big guns.
Yeah, right....

Heard about the new trailer-woot! I thot there was a 23k waiver?

Right from the Tripoli Las Vegas website:
We have an FAA waiver in effect with clearance up to 7,500 feet and windows to 19,000 feet.

I'm hoping the call in windows aren't too hard to get, most of my stuff will need it.

I am looking forward to it ! How high is the waiver ? <holding cards close to chest>

Perhaps you can lock up the toybox and join us in town one evening, for dinner or Salsa dancing ?

ShredFest had too many rockets 'stay in Vegas' , will work to bring them all home this time .

I am going to bet large that I will share a room with someone named Dave .

It's very much a long shot for me right now, but I am trying really hard to arrange my life/work such that I can make it there this year.

Jean Lake is a great launch site, and the folk there really know how to enjoy a good launch.

I'm in for the salsa dancing!

I have a regular car, Honda Accord, does this work for access roads and lake bed? Is high clearance required?

My wife has driven her Honda Insight to the launch site without help--just need to be a little careful (as is needed anytime off-road). Should not be a problem at all.

We've never been turned down for a waiver that I know of--worst case is waiting a few minutes. Once I even saw contrails divert around the area after calling in. Local FAA has been very helpful.

That's good news. I should have my L-3 flight done at Airfest, and my DS Extreme will be looking for a drag race. You think "Jihad this" would be up for it? You know the field, so you could pick the motor....

I considering staying an Casino in Jean, NV rather than camping out... anyone have their past experience to share?

Why yes, yes I do ...

The GoldStrike Hotel is literally 5 mins from the lake bed..one stop sign ?

Rooms were standard vegas fare ..and fairly clean . We didn't frequent the casino or restaurants at the hotel it looked a bit dated ..we ended up taking meals in Vegas and doing the gas station on way to lake bed for coffee and muffins. Wi-Fi is not included and all phone DATA on the lakebed and hotel seemed on the lowest EDO speed and seemed intermittant.

One thing nice ..you could exit the tower direct to the parking lot without having to do the 'casino maze' also pricing runs mid-fifties vs $150 for weekend rates in vegas .

I am booked with a double queen room - if I end up solo will upgrade to a single king jacuzzi suite (hookers and blow not included) .

Usually Joe from Giant Leap is there with a good supply of motors. If you need anything specific you should contact him at Giant Leap and do a pre-order for pickup at the launch to be sure you will have what you need.

...Fudd

Balsa Machining Bill will be coming also with Aerotech.

He suggested I get in at 'pre-order' price and he will do an onsite delivery - no HAZMAT or freight - WOOT ! :w:

Does anyone know if a non-fw 6" Performance Rocketry nosecone will slide into 6" Blue Tube? The 4 inch equivalents would not ..

Has any body checked for damage to the lake/access from the flooding? Stickershock and I were talking the other day when it was raining hard in Moab. He said Vegas had been hammered. I checked and parts of 15 were washed out. I think there was a similar issue for the north entrance in 2009/2010? It's really best if the dry lakebed is dry......

Welfare cryin out loud- We need to hookup for a beer at least. You know Mark lives in Hurricane right? My SIL is in St George!

I know Mark lives in Hurricane.

You know that Hurricane and St. George are quite far away from Moab though, yes? Like 4 or 5 hours drive. I don't get down that way all that often. If you DO ever find yourself up in this area (Moab), definitely get in touch beforehand.

I'm trying REALLY hard to get time off from work to make it to Octoberfest. Not only do I want to fly there, and have a couple of projects that really need a launch like this to do right, but I'd love to meet y'all, Mark, Wayco, et al, at the launch. It's not looking very good right now, but I'm not giving up hope. If the stars align, I just might make the 7-8 hour drive to Jean Lake and put a couple in the sky with y'all.

Love to set you a place and chair at the table in "the compound" ! I'll keep my eyes crossed for ya!

Literally about to get in my van and go to the lakebed for the Sept launch...let you all know later today. That said, we've seen fairly heavy rainfall dry up on the lakebed within days (without any more precip). With the amounts of rainfall we typically get here, recency is more important for driving conditions. In fact, some rain helps the lakebed from being too rough.

Hey now, me and my friend Stan Hazelwood launched once near St. George, two days after 9/11. Don't know if he's still in St. George . . . we lost touch with each other.

Jean lakebed was very dry today and does not appear to have had much rain lately--kind of rough. It will be perfect for Oktoberfest, as long as it has a day or two to dry out should it rain between now and then.

Glad to hear the lakebed is in good shape. I hope to bring one rocket to fly. It should be "O" so much fun. :)
