Folks,

For those who know, Bally Ribbon is one of the major producers of tubular materials and tapes. I've just discovered they have an eBay store, here:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_dmd=2&_ssn=ballyribbon&_sop=1

... that has some rather incredible deals here lately.

I picked up a roll of some 5/8" Kevlar tape on Sunday - 120 yards, 450# test for $22.50 (free shipping)...

...which would be a perfect skirt reinforcing or several other uses (now $30 off-sale - but still free shipping.) It arrived yesterday and confirmed it's a quite decent product for parachute reinforcement or for kites. A roughly equivalent product (same length) at Para-Gear would be about $175.

Also, just bought a 300 yard roll of some black 5/8" tubular nylon - 1500# test for $40 (also free shipping)...

A similar product at Para-Gear - equivalent tenacity - similar length - would be over $400, making this deal about a 90% savings. (Their 9/16" - 1500# - 325 yds COLOR rolls are $468.00 -- or -- 5/8" - 1850# - 250 yds color rolls = $382.50)

Several other items of particular interest for recovery: kevlar, nylon and polyester -- you may want to check it out.

Great find, thanks for sharing!

The deals just keep coming, Kevin -- this item went on sale (50% off their already decent price) in the last day or two (just saw it) - good for another 5 days:

... a 1.7" - 9000# Kevlar/Nomex webbing - 50 yds for $30 w/ free shipping.

(As a point of comparison, there's a fella out there selling some 1.5" Kevlar webbing, 4600# rating (his guess) for $30 for a single 10 foot piece (with over $11 shipping). Delivered, this works out to $12.38 / yd):

He's apparently selling it at that price, too (which I found somewhat surprising).

That makes the Bally Ribbon deal a 95% savings -- $0.60/yd .vs. $12.38/yd -- and Bally's has twice the tensile strength, to boot.

Yeah, I've already spent too much on this stuff (I might have let this one pass at $60, but... I couldn't walk away from this one.) :)

Just FYI,

Well, it looks like I owe folks an apology for pointing to a deal that wasn't as good as it first appeared.

I jumped in on the deal, went out to the garden and when I came back in and tried out the link, it was showing the original price of $60 - all in the matter of a few minutes. A little bizarre, as it was saying the 'sale' price was to last 5 days (remaining) and it went away in about 5 minutes. It noted (in my case) that, "The listing below has been updated by the seller..." and I guess we now know in what way.

I guess they had second thoughts (or some manager override took place) - but it was real (FWIW), even though I was curious and beginning to doubt what I saw - went out and checked my PayPal receipt and they did, indeed, only bill me for $30.

Sorry to get everybody's hopes up unneccesarily, but even $60 is (circa) 90% off, so maybe it's still of use to someone.
