Might be kind of cool. Though most of the time by the 4th stage the rocket is horizontal going cruise missile, or worse!
If it was my bird, I'd make the 2nd & 3rd stage fins the size of the sustainer's. Overall weight may be an issue as well. It will need a bit of nose weight for stability.

Look in my gallery of pictures I already made one, I was thinking of an upscale 2x the size with a cluster configuration. Maybe 9 motors?

yep
I use epoxy to help with that. It works pretty well as a protective coating and the air duct systems helps cool the tubing.
