I use ad blocker and get zero ads.

For the love of god, please! It is helpful for just about everything on the internet, not just TRF.

Hate those ads on Youtube? It will block those. Popups driving you crazy? It will block those. Google ads annoying you on CNN/Fox/NPR/whatever news site troubling your conscious? It will block those. Can't surf the pirate bay without seeing NSFW ads? It will block those.

And it is free.

At first, I was ok with it, but but now they are close to chasing me off. It has ruined surfing on my iPad.

Yes, that's how cookie-based targeted ads work. Unless you use anti-tracking software, advertising companies are looking at your cookies ( akin to history) to show ads that are supposed to be tailored to you.

I will stop using the TRF forum software. I can block it with safari.

I don't think that TRF has anything to do with these ads. It's people's computers and their sore lack of protection against spyware. Instead of getting all flustered about it, fix your #%#% computer and quit complaining about this site and how you'll be leaving us . . . you don't realize how many people would be relieved you left anyway:rofl:

I am running from my PC with Windows 8 and IE10. All I have is the IE10 pop up blocker

Right now I see NO ads except the original rocket one on top. Even the extra ads that started showing up on the top/bottom of the page are gone.

What ads?

Don't know who fixed it but THANK YOU.....EVERyTHING seems to function correctly again. Speed is way up. Editing, PM posting and all related features running smoothly even on Firefox.

Hope you can bring them back if need be...... but in a fashion that doesn't drag down the usage ^ speed. My fan app now shows a nice normal 117 degrees when cruising the forum. So there ya go all you naysayers...... I was right all along.

I no longer log in here from my smartphone or other web portable devices. The ads are bandwidth hogs which count against my data package and I'm sick of seeing ads for California cap and trade information...Global warming, my ass: Your global warming ship ran into an iceberg and sank.

From my home computer, AdbockPlus supresses all ads except the rocket ads which I've whitelisted. Ghostery says 4 trackers, DisconnectMe says 4 advertising links and 2 Google spy channels. Homey don't play dat, Jack.

Hmmm, place some ads and create the need for a blocker. This all reminds me of the Three Stooges episode where they would sneak around a home dropping mice, ants and moths, then wait a few minutes, ring the door bell and offer their services as pest exterminators.

Are people seeing ads right now, as in right this second? They went away yesterday for me, I haven't seen one since. There's an empty blue bar across the top where it seems one should be, but it's just emptiness. I'm not using any adblocker that I'm aware of, but they've gone away - what gives?

Same here. I use to see them and now there gone. But it never bothered me in any way in the first place.

That post would make sense if AdBlockPlus cost anything to install or use. But it doesn't. It's free, and disables dang near every ad on the internet.

The only reason I can think of for someone not to use it is that they WANT to complain about the ads.

Bottom line: Put up with some ads or everybody gets charged $20 per year. Take your pick.

Hey Hey Hey . . . I don't know how they dood it but I now can see those filthy ads that everybody has been crying about!!! I no longer feel left out and now would like to complain like the noodle man uh, I mean Top Ramen.

Actually, I can see them but won't complain. They are most definitely directed at me too . . . I recently bought some Caterpillar Yellow paint at Grainger and now their ad is at the top of the forum. I have also been visiting the Trailers Plus site, looking at a 5' x 8' trailer to haul my big rockets in while justifying the expenditure by reasoning that I could haul either of my Harleys to the shop should they ever break down (though neither has ever broken down), and now I see their ad at the bottom of the forum. Cool beans, it sure beats paying $20 a year to visit this place.

I'm still trying to figure out if the thread title is simply horrible grammar or if it is intended to be some kind of attempt at making fun of people who have English as a second language.....

Maybe we need ads for the following items?

Thank you, I don't see why people don't install it or refuse to install it. Ad Block Plus is super easy to install and just makes general web browsing more pleasant. I guess the only reason is that people want to complain, or they think that the Ad Block people are in some sort of Illuminati Conspiracy with Aliens and the Government!

I never had a problem with banner ads at the top and bottom of the page. I do have a problem with slapping an ad over a picture.

Frankly, I'm having fun steering the cookies around. I'm trying to see if I can get the same advertisement at the top and bottom of the page.

Currently, I have Grainger ads at top and bottom. Though, the top ad is for air regulators and the bottom one is for vises.


Update: Grainger Air Pressure Regulator ads both top and bottom. Sorry, I'm not going to do any Depends or feminine hygiene searches to trigger these ads to show up.

Well I must retract my statement.....since adds are back, so are all my issues.
Back to using Safari.
