We're now releasing version 2.0 of the X-Winder with a lot of new features.
We've condensed a complete build session video in less that 0:90s at:

X-Winder is the world's first small scale, affordable, desktop filament winder.
Thanks and looking forward to your feedback.

On your webpage it states the machine will cost around $1,000 is that correct?

Also, will you offer it in a kit version?

Awesome awesome awesome awesome.

Will the X2 be upgrade able to the X3 capabilities when they become available ( with, I assume an additional stepper for the 3rd axis)? Also, if a bigger frame is needed for larger parts, are the controller/software set up to handle the different frame config?

I am so excited..CF tubes with specific fiber angles. There is a lot of potential here.

That is tempting. How much? How much tow does it take and what is the code for the raw materials?

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but the tube mandrel is a PML tube. I wanted to back them the first time, and hope I can get some friends interested to back again. Thanks!

I saw this at a Maker Faire prior to their first round of crowdsourcing. It made nice tubes, but they probably need grinding or machining to a uniform outside diameter, and I wasn't sure if it could do the extremely steep wind angles that are important for rocketry tubes. But their new higher-axis-of-control models probably can do that, so it is pretty promising.

i was trying to do the math to figure out how many tubes one would have to make to make up the price of the machine. It is difficult to estimate that.

The X-Winder 2.0 is now available to order thru Kickstarter.
You'll need an Amazon.com account to become a backer and place your order.
The Kickstarter link is --> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1157143472/x-winder-20-the-original-desktop-filament-winderhttps://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1157143472/x-winder-20-the-original-desktop-filament-winder

We expect to deliver winders in June if you are part of the first 100 orders. If we go over 100 orders, your
delivery slot could be several months later. Also, after the Kickstarter campaign is over, we do expect a price
increase of $50 to $100 USD.

Prices for the Kickstarter Campaign are:
Control Box and Software = $395 USD
Control Box and Software and Frame Parts = $795 USD
Control Box and Software and Frame Parts and "XL" motors = $995 USD
Control Box and Software and Frame Parts and "L" motors = $1,195 USD

Thanks
