I heard quite the opposite with respect to the XP support sunset date...~free~ Extended Support ends with the April 8 "Patch Tuesday" but Microsoft is offering XP Extended Support to banks for their ATMs at a cost. Deals are being signed. It's quite likely we'll be seeing a bump in the ATM fees after April 8.
 
Embedded Windows CE is separate from the standard desktop Windows. They will support the embedded version and drop desktop support except for in China.
