I am putting a Stratologger in a Mariah 38 and looking for options for the 9V battery. It fits but something smaller would be nice. Anyone else experimented?

Should also add I have been looking at 32A 9v alkaline batteries, used in remote controls and cheap via eBay.

You could use an A10 battery (9v at 38 mAh and 4.5 grams) on the PerfectFlite MAWD (the TRF archive link no longer exists, but I have the contents saved in MS Word). You might be able to with the StratoLogger, but I would test it.

Someone has suggested that "a small 3S1P LiPo battery back is sufficient" for the StratoLogger.

I have been using these batteries with my Stratologger 100: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10500

I think that there are cheaper places to find these types of batteries, but this place had them in stock when I purchased them earlier this year.

These batteries read right around 8.3-8.4 volts when charged and they have worked 100% on all my dual deployment flights with the Stratologger 100.

+1 on the hobbyking battery 13 g battery and 13 g altimeter. A 0.9 ounce solution.

Thanks. Those are good suggestions and now a bit to look up source details.

Thanks

I wish my computer charger had a built in power supply.........
I wish my computer charger charged 1s thru 6s,,,
mine does from 2s thru 6s,,,,, so for the 1s lipo for the eggtimer I have to charge it using the charger I got with the Big Red Bee transmitter,,, that uses a 1s lipo as well.........

Teddy,

Thanks for the links! I had been looking for a lower current 2s battery for the ARTS 2 I have coming in the mail. These will do perfectly!

Dan,,,,
Lower current,,,,,,,,,,,,
This pack is still 25 - 40 c.......
It's this current rating that perfect flight has a problem with........
If there's a short on a pyro output and a 9v alkaline batt tries to fire a match the 9v is not capable
even in a shorted condition of putting out enough current to damage the output transistors in the stratologger..........
I think if you look in Hobbyking you could find a lower c rating on a small mah 2s lipo...........
If that's what your lookin for.......
Take a lookyyyy.......
