    Extensive discussion here:

    http://forums.parallax.com/forums/de...?f=15&m=378648

There are apparently several different types, with important variations. I've got one coming that should be here anyday, with the intention of putting it on the side of a rocket.

yesrie, Jon if these work this could be fun, just a bit of Black tape and any rocket becomes a video rocket. Start asking to tape it to other peoples rockets or . I will try it on my NSL Thor first on a "F or G" something, if all goes good then a real ride, my Wildman JR on a Warp motor. , then finally Thor-X on a "K555G". I've seen the inside and the battery is soldered, so no worries about losing power, so let's give this dooda a run for it's money ($19.00)we shall see!!!

oh and Jon guess where I got the money's for this from!!! hahahahahaha, opps running to bank with check in hand

I got mine finally. Anyone know how to reset the date/time on the thing? I am running Ubuntu Linux and can see all the .avi files it makes just fine but there isn't anything that indicates how to do this. I have a dual boot machine and can play with it in Windows but I'd rather not. BTW - it did not come with a manual.

It records great and I can't believe how small and light it is. The only draw back is that it does not do well in low-light situations like an average living room with the lights on. Looks like my n/c from a messed up Sreamin' Mimi will work just fine as a camera shroud. I am tempted to build one out of foam.

mine came with a "manual", or a sheet measuring 6 inch by 2, half in chinese.
to reset the time, you need to load the CD ROM, and follow the instructions, i guess you did not get a CD ROM, i did not either.
Apart from that, i really like it, and the video quality is good, considering the price. hope to strap it to my ECEE thunder and fly it, should be good to get a gliders point of view.

I got mine in the mail yesterday, great find!

Now, I need to figure out the best way to mount it. I'm not really a fan of doing surgery on my parts to make it work, yet. I just have this bad feeling of having some unrecoverable problem occur. I know, its only plastic and cardboard, but its MY plastic and cardboard...

First, I figured out how to set the date and time. You have to add a file to the root directory on the camera called TAG.TXT with the following in the file:

    [date]
    2009/07/22
    12:00:00

There must be a space after [date] and the date itself. Obviously, put in the correct date and time - which I think has to be in military format. Once that is done I think I had to turn the unit off after disconnecting it from the compy and then plug it back in and let it power on by itself. I was sent a .RAR file with instructions and the TAG.TXT file but I don't think I'll need to install the rar file.

As far as mounting it, it is so small I think I am not even going to take it apart. I will use a BT-55 or so NC cut in half lengthwise to cover it and use a single screw to hold it in where the key chain is attached right on the side of the rocket. No mirrors or anything. I believe it is small enough to go right on the side of the rocket looking down. I just have to figure out what to use to keep it from rattling around.

    Thank you Dave!

I've been browsing the random forums (here, Parallax, others from Google searches) and most mention some application with no English text (no thanks, I want to know what I'm doing) or by using a file named "settime.txt". I have had NO luck until trying this one. Good get!

Well mine came today, sitting now and playing.

file don't correct the time, yet
but it does work in a fairly dark room, but the camera is 90 degrees different than want I expected. For the price, I'm very happy, but the real test starts Saturday on the side of a booster.

I think YODA wrote the instuctions too!

Did you put the TAG.TXT file in the "DCIM" directory? That's where it should be.

Yeah...the instructions are, interesting. Anyways, I attached a copy to this post.

    My favorite line is:
Please pay attention to protect environment, not to throw the product optionally
    or
Please use it under normal temperature and avoid using under unsuitable body temperature.

I've just ordered one too, looks like fun for mountain biking videos as well as rockets. Has anyone managed to duck tape one to the side of a rocket yet?

    Cheers,

I'm hoping to do that very thing this weekend, as long as it stops raining and I can find a field with little mud.
