NOW that is what a missile should look like!! I'd love to own a scale model of one. What's it called?

It's an Otomat Mk II, aka Oto-Melara Milas with the torpedo. It's a rocket boosted turbojet cruise missile; just a handful were ever deployed...Italian, I think (been a while since I fooled with it). I have a semi-scale drawing I used and a box of parts. The air intakes would required more modeling skill than I currently have. The two sides are boosters.

My long-abandoned build-thread is here: https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?39969-OTOMAT-OTO-Melara-MILAS-build&highlight=milas Don't know when I'll get to start it back up...the box of parts is in the closet somewhere.

I've seen Video on one of those Weapons TV Shows of this thing in Action. The three smaller "Darts" Separate from the Booster, then go on this really weird, eratic Flight Path to their Target. They don't just fly right to it, they go up, down, sideways, then finally they somehow still impact the Target. Looks like something out of a Sci'Fi Movie.

Now that is one Angry looking Missile!

PARCA...French German ground to air program of the 50's. Never went into operational mode.

The particular story: eventually built in Vernom in Normandy where many German wartime scientists landed, if not captured by US or Soviets. Some of them obviously did work on the Rheintochter programs...the similarity is really clear...

It did go into test mode, though.

The clip starts off with some footage of another import from Germany, a Nord CT10 target missile (based on the V1), before the PARCA arrives.

It has a bit of Bloodhound/Thunderbird in it as well from that pic.

And another (good side view for scale rendering):

Thanks. I like this one because it could be built using the Egg Lofter nose cone from the TARC Parts from Estes.
Granted, if I was going to do it I would like it to be bigger than that, but a small one would be a good start and still look pretty cool.
Obviously it would have to be a cluster.:)
Estes actually did a Kit, but it looks silly, and nothing like the real deal.

One of the sweetest designs for a missile has to be the RIM-67 Standard Missile.

I'm seriously thinking of building a scale version of this 3" PSII based. I might increase the rear fins for additional stability, or just go with more weight in the nose.

For me, what makes a missile look awesome is the sense one gets, when looking at it, that being on the receiving end of the thing would really SUCK. Sometimes, simple but powerful is the way to go. The ATACMS:

that launch of the seaslug has the sound effects from the old TV series UFO !!

Well I was going to nominate Sea Dart and Sea Slug - Sea Dart has been done but I love the Heath Robinson type of design in Sea Slug - such a large missile the Royal Navy had to build a whole class of ships to carry it. Its such a mad looking missile.

Sea Dart and Rhinetochter are both on my build list and, if itwasnt for me being so slow building anything Rhinetochter would have been built by now - sighs - unfortunately another birthday came round and my boys bought me Perseus II (not a bad disaster to have in your life I guess) and one thing has led to another and now I am diverted builing a 12v launch controller

ALAS missile. The one in front has a solid-fuel booster. There are 3 variants, two are ground-ground, and the third is anti-shipping. They are controlled by a trailing fiber optic cable the missile spools out behind it. That's up to 60Km of fiber in the long-range version.

There's a reason for that...

Skip forward to 1:15 if you don't want to watch the credits. I recorded and watched the series when it was repeated a few years ago, and kept that particular episode because of the Seaslug footage.

Thanks for that. I found that there are plenty of episodes on YT to watch, and just watched the first one.

I recently discovered the Sea Eagle. I like the paint schemes.
It's like a Martel AS 37 on steriods.

How about this one.

The F-106 Delta Dart firing an "Air 2 Genie" powered by a Thiokol SR49-TC-1 solid-fuel rocket engine.

Can anyone confirm... is this essentially a "Q" motor with an atomic warhead?

36,500 lbs of thrust/162,360 newtons its a "Q" just barely, another 1640 newtons and its an "R", oh yeah... and with a nuclear warhead :y:
