Tonight I figured out how to get the rotary axis on the CNC machine to wrap properly so I could cut nosecones with less chatter, and it gave me motivation to try an idea I had a while back - filament winding.

It took a little coding, scrounging for anything I could use as a filament for testing, and hacking together a tensioning system, but the test looks promising.

I stopped it part-way through the job since it was going to take a while (sewing thread does not cover very well):

It will probably go on the back burner for a bit while I finish a few other projects and chores around the house, but I think this will work. :D

Awesome! Filament wound airframes with high aspect ratio nosecones built in and rear ejection, I think yes!
