I have run OpenRocket for a long while with no issues, recently removed Java from computer and now will not run, is Java req'd. Also get a new warning that the file could harm my computer? Thanks,

Java is required.
 
It's written in Java.

There's nothing particularly wrong with having Java on your computer (if you like that sort of thing). What many people advocate, and I agree, is removing Java plugins from web browsers. They're bad for security. But the Java language itself isn't a problem.
