Thought it was about time to join the minimum diameter ranks. While i'm more of a low and slow kind of guy, I figure you got to own at least one min dia and with all the new DMS from Aerotech I guess i'm out of excuses.

So here it is so far, its a Loc 38mm tube with two layers of 6oz fiberglass. 1/8 inch ply fins with a layer of 6oz on each side. The plan will be to do another layer of 6oz spanning each fin and tube. I have a slimline retainer that will go nicely. Only thing I need to pick up is a couple of rail guides and and I will be set. It will stand roughly 49 inches tall, and from the looks of the OP sim it will not require any extra nose weight no matter what motor I pick.

I don't think I will DD I may just go strait streamer, it will have a altimeter and I will try out the new GPS locator system I bought, if It can take the 170ft per landing.

Welcome to the kool kids club! I need a new 38MD, I'm pretty good at crashing mine.

Any motor plans yet?

The Loki I-110 for starters, and or the new AT DMS I-140W. Not sure how I feel about risking my hardware on a min dia. The new DMS kinda take some of the pain away.

One fun kind of minimum diameter is making it really short, for only 1 or 2 grain motors.

It's less stressful than the ultra-performance kind, but at the same time it is all about maximizing performance.

Got the fins on, next will be running a layer of fiber glass over them. Still trying to come up with a neat paint scheme, for some reason i'm at a loss on this one.

Finished adding the fiber glass to the fins, I still have to blend and fill the glass, my least favorite task. And I ordered my rail guides and a few other things from Giant leap. Now back to sanding.

I guess I still have to design a AV bay too, hummm this one is going to be tricky.

AV bay is done rocket is painted just need to install the chute and shock cord and its ready to fly. Got a Eggtimer and an Eggtimer installed so I can find it. This first flight will be on a Loki H-90 to see if it has any bad habits. Then like an I-110 or I might just jump right to the J-320 its almost a 3 sec burn we'll see.

This would be the first time I'm at a complete loss at what to name a rocket. Not sure why the red turned out so different in the full view shot it the color of the AV bay shot. :confused2:

So, let me put forth a question about your laminated Loc Tube. Before laminating it did you peel off the wax/gloss layer on the outside of the tube? I strongly recommend this step. The wax layer is slippery, and epoxy does not soak in. The bare cardboard on the other hand is great as the epoxy can soak in.

I didn't peel it off I did however give it a good sanding and the tube did seem to wet through.
