This was the first launch of my Maxi Alpha 3 rocket. It went bang, and blew a fireball around fifty feet in the air.08_02_13 294.jpg08_02_13 292.jpg
I had a bad feeling having read about all the problems with E12's. I just received these E12-4's from Hobbylinc around two weeks ago, shipped to NYC during the 95+ degree weather week. They have the date code of 08 16 11, supposedly a known bad batch.
The Maxi Alpha 3 had all the plastic replaced with basswood, and a baffle (which was blown out) installed. Finish is two cans of Duplicolor High Build primer. It should be an easy rebuild.
Very memorable!

I have flown dozens of E12 motors. Only a few failures from that one first batch with that date code.

If you have that date code only fly then in models that you will not care about being damaged. If they work, great. If not, you get a replacement from Estes.

Flew many yesterday. 100% spectacular and perfect flights.
