Hey guys, I've been here for nearly two months and I completely forgot to write "the customary introduction" so here it goes!
My name is Ed and I'm 17. I live in Chicago Illinois and i really dislike it, there's very few places to launch large rockets without traveling an hour or more. It's also illegal to launch any rockets at the park 500 feet from my house because I live a couple of blocks from a large international airport (Midway), I would love to move to somewhere that a lot of you guys are, such as Texas or Arizona.
I've been building rockets for nearly four years, i got started when i joined the rocket club at my highschool as a freshman, which I am now captain of. I almost instantly fell in love with rockets. My first ever rocket build was a scratch built rocket with a 29mm F20W-7 motor, it was a TARC (team america rocketry challenge) build, i came very close to making it pass qualification but the egg had a hairline fracture and therefore didn't count, i made the perfect height and time requirements though. I've since then made many successful rockets using every type of motor from a 1/2 A all the way up to a G77R with an electronic ejection charge (using an EFC-1: https://www.aerotech-rocketry.com/c...tions/EFC_Instructions/efc-1_instructions.pdf ) My current builds include my 2013 TARC rocket and my x3 Estes E-9 motor cluster with an on- board camera.

So, there's my long, overly detailed introduction to...me. Thank's for all of the help you guys have given me so far and the help i'm sure you will give in the future!

For being 17 you seem to be farther along then most. Farther along then me and I've been blasting rockets since I was 10 or 12 -- almost 40 years ago.

Welcome

You'll like it here, lots of ---hmmmm--characters here ! The guy in the boots--ehhhh-- Might want to give him a week or two.--H

Welcome aboard!

Good to hear you're involved in TARC -- that's a great program.

Welcome and sorry to see that you are not only a fan of the "other" Chicago team, but of the wrong color Sox, unless I am mistaken and you are one of the enlightened ones.

Chicago is a great city, I go there several times a year to visit relatives. Yeah if you lived out in the middle of Texas prairie land you could launch rockets all day but there wouldn't be much else to do.

Well, there is Fox Valley Rocketeers out of the Fox Valley area and meet in Woodstock, IL (www.foxvalleyrocketeers.org). Then there is NIRA from a little more east (www.nirarocketry.org). Moving north, there are two (at least) clubs that fly at Bong State Rec Area in the Cheese Land of perpetual snow and milk (Wisconsin) called WOOSH and TWA (www.whooshrocketry.org) and (www.tripoliwisconsin.org). Moving west, you have this bunch of nuts that call themselves QCRS. We fly out of Princeton, IL. Just shoot out I88 for a spell to Rt26 then head south and you'll get close enough to smell the AP. We hang out at www.qcrs.us. Going south, there is Prairie State Rocketry. They look like a small club with a G motor limit. They're out of Aurora, IL (www.prsrocketry.com). Check all these out. All are great people. You can't go wrong picking any one of them to fly with. But a slight bias to QCRS. :headbang:

Good luck with your rocketry endeavors.
