Launch Pad assembly, solid steel Gun Turret mounting, High Power 'anything'.....sounds appealing with a hefty price tag attached. This will safely launch any rocket that can reach stable fps within a 6' rod length. Total Cost $8.
(1) 2X4 8' length
(1) 6' rod.......Home Depot sometimes carries 6' lengths and this photo happens to show a 1/4" rod
Cut (2) 3' length sections and attach with long wood screws / Cut (2) small 'feet' sections and attach as seen in photo / Take remaining section of 2X4 and attach on top as seen in photo with long wood screws (this gives more depth for the rod to seat / Use the exact diameter Drill Bit that matches Rod diameter you will be using / A drill press is not required for a 90 degree through hole....just take your time and an EXTRA long drill bit sure helps this process.
How is ROD secure? Router out the bottom of the through hole with larger diameter bit to accomodate about 1/2" of duct tape. Wrap one end of the Rod with 1/2" duct tape to build up a small retaining ring. Tap the Rod through the bottom of the assembly and POUND in the last section of 1/2" tape into the bottom of the assembly. I built this in less than 10 minutes.
Want it beefier......Make any BASE length you want. Want double Rods permanently mounted......why not. Want it to fold for transport......just use a single long wood screw which will be the pivot point. Want a BLAST PAD....knock yourself out.....there are tin plates for $1 or $2 at any hardware store (get creative).
Good Luck and I hope this is helpful!
