Attempting final assembly of Estes Nike-X.
Finished my MAC Scorpion.
Not so much what i did with a rocket in my hands but, the planning for the longest road trip i'll ever take to fly a few rockets. See with the announcement of LDRS 37 planned for Tripoli Central California next year. ALOT things have opened up for me.
The chance to see alot of my friends who now work in the Aerospace Industry in Sacramento and, Los Angeles. The chance to get the Hellcat out and, take a 2200 mile roadtrip down roads i used to roam when i drove over the road as a Truck Driver and, last but not least- A chance to fly a boatload of modified Madcow Bomarcs and, even an NCR in a great location.
The trip back through Las Vegas and, flying in the folks and, Anne for a week of fun before i drive back will also make it very enjoyable too!
With my recent visit to LDRS 36 out east i had the ability to finally meet Steve Shannon, Matt Fletcher (blackbrandt), Nate Lowrie (The NATE) and, of course John Sigmon
(Bat-mite) and, that alone made the 750 mile journey well worth the effort!
To me its not about the rockets but, the people who make it all worth the time, the money, the effort.
I won't know till January (when i bid my vacation time) IF i can make it but, it's pretty much a shoe in...Time will tell.
Best of all- I'll finally get a chance to meet Dave (fyrwrxz) and, eat a boatload of Hershey bars...
Making a laundry list of parts i still need and, hoping for good health and, good ventures in advance so far away from the days ahead!
94% humidity in Huntsville this evening.
Guess who won't be painting today!?
Much the same here in Mobile. I ended up laying down newspaper in my air conditioned indoor workshop and broke out the rattle cans. Much happier now.
Eh Tango! Southern Thunder is coming in a couple weeks! Going to try the trip?
Never heard of it, but probably not. In two weeks I'll be in Maryland for the East Coast Regional Meet - 44.
