What did you do rocket wise today?

Cut out a sled for Sharon's Stinger. Did some fitting of parts and glued the stuffer tube in the avbay. We are doing a co-build on this rocket. Rocketry Warehouse kits don't come with instructions, you have to figure out everything. I'm spoiled by the Wildman kits, CJ's build threads cover almost everything. When we got to the "volume of a donut avbay" I had forgotten how I determined hole size. Sharon tried to figure it out, and we kept getting really small sizes. I finally remembered how I did it on the 5" Jart, but not before the conversation got pretty heated. Fortunately, a pot roast dinner smoothed things over. We finished up by drilling a bunch of holes using the new tool we got from Dog House rocketry:
https://doghouse.blastzone.org/threaded-insert-tools.html

If you don't have one of these, you should. Sharon was drilling like a pro, with no coaching! I used it to do the static ports and vent holes, it will spoil you. We finished up by adding an eyebolt to the N/C tip, with the main shock cord attached. Big rockets are easier to work on, I can get my hand all the way to the top of the 6" N/C.

Added some paint to my Patriot. One last color before it is done.

Started building a Bull Pup.

Just began sewing the Shroud Lines onto one of my Chutes' that I'll use on my TLP TAN-SAM.

Took advantage of the Performance Hobbies sale to order motors and reloads.

I cut off a bunch of body tube from my Estes Partizon. I made a stupid mistake off guessing the delay on it and it was a little too long. When the chute finally deployed the rocket had an 8 1/2 inch zipper. So I cut the top body tube down it went from being 56 inches to being 44 inches.

Cut the fins for Fat Daddy. Stability is pretty looking tight, so I cut a 5" dia arc from the center of the TTW tab. Took about 100grams off. Leaves me a 1 1/4" tab at each end to glue to the motor tube.

Added the fillets to the Ranger XL scratcher I'm building. 3 x 24mm motors, basswood fins, SEMROC cone and parts, all the good stuff. I figure it needs a 22" chute so I'll be making one up from Space Blanket mylar here soon.

Nice work, Top!

Thanks.
When I first started making my own Chutes' I had'nt a clue as to the proper way of doing the Shroud Lines, but everyone here steered me straight.:)
I'de always just done what I'de seen on Manufactured Chutes. Even the Chute that came with my LOC Viper III is wrong, but I'll fix it yet.

2 hours ago I accomplished a major milestone with my homemade ALTDuino altimeter.

For the first time the second stage was ignited via the altimeter and it worked like a charm :)

It was also the 100th flight using my altimeter without having a single failure to date :)

And it was the 48th flight of my Estes Mongoose. She is sure hanging in there :)

I will post a small video with more details in my ALTDuino thread in a day or two.

Me's happy :)

Continued Design Work on the Decal for the TAN-SAM. As is Typical of most TLP Kits, it is an obscure Missile, and good photos are not available.
I took some Pics' of decal Sheets I found on Google, then printed them and cut them out to re-arrange them to be the right Shape, then hand Painted them and scanned the result, then tried to make the Teeth in a Paint Program, but that was taking forever, so I printed another Red Mouth, and made a Stencil to use...
It's becoming a real Chore, but I'm determined to get a decent Decal made up.
In the original Image I found on Google, if you try to enlarge it, the Detail goes away, so I can only get "Close Enough".

Finally finished painting and applying decals to my Patriot. I did not follow the color and sticker scheme too closely. Here is the result:

Now it needs to fly!

TopRamen these might work.

Scroll down to Shark and Flying tiger.

Thanks for the Tip Terryg.
I spent a couple of hours looking through every Flying Tiger/Shark Mouth Image I could find, and have pretty much settled on the Version I'm working on now. I had to take 2 Mouths, then put them together, so buying a Vinyl would'nt work. There were Decals for use on Snark Missiles and the like, even wrap-arounds that might work on this style of Nose-Cone, but Stylistically, they did not look Japanese.
Anyway, there was very little left in the Budget this Month for Rocket Stuff, so making them myself is the way it has to be. The Rocket went together without any challenges, so atleast this part will make it worthwhile/memorable.
I am enjoying it. I'll likely finish up tomorrow and post a Pic', as I think it will look pretty good.:)

Here's my Cardstock Mockup Mouth:

glued the fins on Fat Daddy...

Mrs asked why it wasn't taller, then said she wants to see one as tall as me.... looks like there is a 6' tall 7.5" rocket in my future :marshmallow:

a wood box to carry my 54mm casings and closures, the style of box they ship weapons in it.

Completed the TAN-SAM with its Decals.:)
Now it's ready to eat up some Sky!

I began watching the MST3K treatment of Marooned and discovered several Estes model rocket references about 11:30 minutes into the show!

Called Chris with Chris' Rocket Supplies to make a last minute order. Taking advantage of his 20% off sale on reloads. I don't even want to think about how much I have spent on propellant over the last month. Special thanks to my wife Sharon for giving me an extra budget to take advantage of this sale.
No sooner had I made the call and the door bell rings. FedEx with a delivery:

It's a shipment from Mike at Bay Area Rocketry. I took advantage of his L-3 special deal on an AT M1297 and Rouse Tech casing with closures for $508.

CAUTION! ROCKET PORN AHEAD....

Very well packed with bubble wrap and pink Styrofoam:

With 75mm reloads, you get the grains in boxes:

Even after all the bubble wrap, the 75/5120 casing has it's own special protection:

This is the last big piece for my L-3 certification attempt at Airfest in TWO WEEKS! :y:
