What did you folks use for ballast and where did you get it from? I just picked up the Loc Precision 3.90" V2 from Ken at Performance Hobbies at this weekend's LDRS.

Mine also came with nose weight, but I can't remember exactly how much. You could pour in some fishing lead balls followed by some epoxy and leave it propped up on the tip.
Note that this is one of my longest-performing rockets, couldn't even tell you how many launches I've gotten out of it.
Sand, BBs, steel shot, modeling clay all work well. I wouldn't ever suggest or use lead shot or sinkers because if your rocket crashes you've just created an environmental issue that could cost the launch organizer the field.
