Thanks for the file Jim, I will pull it down this evening when I get home. I'm off to meet with another forum member to pick up my project parts kit for this file.

Nice design however, would you use those big thick .125 CF fins? A decrease in fin size and the adjustment to .06 CF fins squeezes out another 1166 feet.

Yes....& before you can ask.... yes you can still buy it for 90.00 from Wildman. I don.t remember what it's called but he still sells them. YOU MUST CALL AND ASK, I don't think it's on the web site. It's a builder special. You get the tubes , CR's, NC & a sheet of G-10 to cut the fins and sled out of.

Here's the build thread. It's potent, deadly & dangerous. Not for the faint of heart and good building skills are needed if ya want it back from over 20,000.

I did a super detailed build thread for my Ozzie buddies down under on the Australian Rocket Forum. On of my best ever build for including every kind of detail needed in a build.

    Dude it's a 90.00 kit & that's what comes with it.
My design was for a drag race & every other one shredded if I remember right. 1/8in G-10 isn't that big a deal. If your really pushing the limit ya go down to 54mm tube.
This thing was 2.6 oddball stuff.

Besides when I got done cutting an in. off here, and 4in off there and another inch. there...there.. I got it down to 4.73lbs ready to fly, stuck a tailcone retainer on it.....beveled the rear of the airframe 8 degrees to match the tailcone and got another 2800 ft out it.

I suppose you could go to carbon but then the cost goes up and your not playing fair with all the "other' boys.
The whole idea behind this builders kit is to see who can go the highest with whats in it.

Besides those humongous.... gigantasorous. titanic, stupendously oversized 1/8 fins have stayed on so far and there is no tip-tip......just JB weld and west fillets. LOL

But Alex ,I glad to see you are "thinker" and putting your own spin on things......keep it up and fly'em high!

I picked my kit up locally not 20-minutes ago. This is a pretty sweet kit... but a bare bones kit. Nothing but the tubes, rings, bulkheads and a plastic cone. the rest is on me. Luckily I still have a large assortment of cords and chutes.

Sorry, thought you were designing a 54mm optimized rocket. I didnt realize that this was the Wildman special. I think the name is what threw me off. Ive been really interested in optimization for altitude recently. While I was sick I designed a rocket that would reach 15K with a CTI I224CL. Ive got time to kill so I've spent a lot of time on OR lately.

    Yeah... here's one I did.

Blackhawk 29 carbon fins. Lightweight g-12 tubing. Lightweight spiral VonKarmon NC. 9in chute at apogee! Featherweight av-bay.
    Apogee deploy only.
Closure drilled out and eyebolt screwed in, then filled with epoxy for recovery attachment.

Shoot it up....drop it like a stone. just enough room left for a tracker in NC.

Funny, that was a hilarious drag race! Gus stripped off the fins, 'Frontpage' Cato'd, Dixon skywrote and I drag separated. Did yours even fly in that race?
