"Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail me now."
"Ambient Sounds of the Highway" by Various Artists. I can only listen to it while I am driving in my car. The selection ranges from Minimalist to Industrial. It's deceptively complex, though. I pick up new combinations of sounds with each listen. My favorite cut is "Untitled" by The Squealing Fan Belts. Also there are a number of stirring horn solos scattered throughout. One in particular is concluded when another member of the lineup smashes his Fender. Great stuff.
P. S. Mine came with a hidden "bonus" cut: a very strange version of "Pump It Up," done by Air Supply.

I'm fluent in 3 languages: English, Sarcasm and Profanity.
I will confess also to having an occasional craving for surf rock whilst on my way to fly. Behold, the master:

I have to admit I've listened to all of those Ventures tunes, the oldies spacey stuff including "Telstar".
On the way out...I like to listen to something energetic to get pumped up.
Coming back I like to mellow out.
I used to listen to sound track of Apollo 13...but this has been my favorite recently. Phil Sheppards great soundtrack.....
Especially the part at 03:38:

Maybe some 'tron music choir voices in there? LOL....

We got two categories of pilots around here. We got your prime pilots that get all the hot planes, and we got your pud-knockers who DREAM about getting the hot planes.
Now what are you two pud-knockers gonna have?... Huh?

Most any Judas Priest will do, but I am a metal fan, so I can find many suitable titles... as long as THEY ROCK!!
The way some launches go, perhaps opera would be the appropriate choice.
