    Question no wadding rocket?

My dad and I were discussing some of the rockets we built back in the 70s, and he recalled we had one that had a complicated baffle chamber in it that was supposed to eliminate the need for recovery wadding. I remember him building it, the thing looked like the guts out of a muffler... I'm pretty sure it was an Estes model, but no idea of the name. Does anybody recall such a thing?

Are you sure the baffle was part of the rocket kit and not from a third party? Baffles are pretty common in larger bodied rockets these days.

It sounds like the Estes Bandit kit (K-48/1248).

Semroc recently issued a kit of this model.

A number of Centuri rockets featured baffles.

Edit: Yeah, forgot about the Bandit, it does sort of look like the guts of a muffler.

I purchased a bandit kit from SEMROC a few months ago. It's not built yet but will be soon.

That Semroc site is gonna be nothing but trouble for me! I've been resisting pulling the trigger on a Trident all day
