    Estes V2

The Estes V2 arrived today! Although, I was a bit disappointed in the condition in which it arrived. The shipper packed it into a too small of a box and egged the body tube ends. Hopefully leaving the boat tail and nose cone on for awhile will bring it back to its shape. I had the Maxi version of this all so many years ago and this one seems a little bit smaller (provided I remember this correctly) I had to check the package to make sure it was a 24mm powered vehicle. Now that I have the Frau Im Mond artwork (Thanks Sandman!) I'm ready to roll on this. I thought I might do a build thread on it if no one else has already done so or if anyone would care to have one.

I'm interested to see how you roll with the new V2 kit. Lets see what you got!

I bought one on Saturday. Hope to build it soon. Lets have a multi build off. I hope this thing will fly on a C motor!

Estes recommends the C11-3 for the first flight, but keep it light - at the nominal weight of 6.3 oz, it does only ~175 feet!

I have one of the older kits (late 90's maybe) and I wouldn't fly it on a C-11. Does very nicely on D12's though

Really? Geez, that's sort of disappointing. I thought I would eventually fly it on an E.

Ehhh, 175 feet isn't bad for a 'low and slow' test flight. As long as you get ejection high enough off the ground to open the chute.

If the V-2 gets 175 feet on a C11, it should probably do about 250-300 on a D and maybe 500 on an E. Not bad flights for a fairly sizable scale model.

I flew a 10.5 ounce rocket with a C11-3, Yea sure it only got to 100-125 feet, But it all worked out.

I ordered one yesterday from a local vendor ,so i`m pretty stoked about that.My old version was lost to a gust of wind and a big`ole Poplar tree last year

We had a LP/MP launch yesterday at the same field and it` still there ,calling out to me to be rescued........very sad.......very sad indeed !!

While priming, noticed a deformity in the nose cone at the shoulder. It was out of round enough to almost slip a dime at the shoulder. So I had to get out the Bondo putty and build it up. Also to fill in the mold seams. Silver paint would only highlight these issues on the completed model.
