    Key chain camera "sled"

    Hi,

Does anyone have a keychain camera sled that they've built or found?

I'm trying to identify something to replace taping these to the airframe.

Ideally something that will screw to the airframe for easy on and easy off.

    Just curious....

I just epoxy mine to a long narrow piece of plywood and tape that to the airframe with masking tape; this has gone through mach several times. You could attach the plywood to the airframe with screws into T-nuts or well nuts or the like if you wanted to.

I'm probably leaning in that direction. Perhaps like many of us, the desire to over-engineer something is a difficult urge to quell.

I just picked up a project I had started last year and set aside, a dedicated low power camera rocket. I removed the guts of the keychain camera from its case and mounted them on a crude frame for the inside of the body tube. This is to balance the weight and reduce drag (the battery is on one side and the electronics on the other). Only the camera "eye" protrudes from the body tube. I've been putting it off trying to think of a contraption to allow me to adjust the angle of the "eye". I might just make the prototype non-adjustable to keep it simple and get it in the air.

What I did to get away from taping was rough up back of camera case with 60 grit sandpaper then epoxy a machine screw on with epoxy/chopped carbon mixture. Can be screwed into a wood CR or use nut/washer anywhere on fiberglass BT.Not sure I would use this method on cardboard BT but bluetube or fiberglass it works great.
