I hear tell they've got one now that prints METAL parts in 3D... uses a laser to heat metal particles and "weld" them in the specific locations with each successive pass...
They aren't making production parts with them RIGHT NOW-- the expense is rather prohibitive, so they're using them for rapid prototyping and such to develop the final parts which are then cast or machined in more "standard" industry processes, BUT producing parts affordably and quickly is the next big goal...
