Cheap source of micro nose cones.

Well, I decided to build a micro today, (will post pics later) and found a great source of nose cones for minimum dimeter micro rockets; go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby, find the plastic models, look for the Revell 1/100th snap together F4 Fantom, CA the two halves of the fuel tanks together, cut the ends off with a hacksaw, glue on a shoulder, and voila! A 7mm plastic ogive nose cone! From the three fuel tanks, it you sand off the tabs to attach them to the model, you can get 6 cones, for about $4 with a coupon.
Just thought I'd share this with you guys. Pics of the rocket (Actually, the second rocket. Pics of the first one will be uploaded to the "Paint Failures" gallery. ) are coming

The Estes 7216 has fin pods down about that size. You get 6 cones plus tubes with the kit at $10 w/coupon at Hobby Lobby. I just bought the kit for the parts.

    I like my method:
Get a dowel from the HW store (cant remember the size... something the size of your MMX motor)
Stick the end in a pencil sharpener, cut off and make a shoulder. Tons of conical NC's for little cost.

Not exactly - the EPM has six mosquito nose cones in there. Those are 13mm diameter cones. The OP said his "fuel tank" nose cones are only about 7mm diameter - just a bit bigger than minimum diameter for micromaxx.

Hint #1: Do not use magician's flash paper for recovery wadding!

Hint #2: Clean your shoes after flyin' in that cow pasture - that ain't no dirt clod on the sole!

Another interesting source is the "Doll House" building isle at Micheals and AC Moore.
Several small wooden turnings PRE-Made that are just about the perfect 7.1mm size. Actually T2+ (.281"OD) minimum MMX motor tubing is 7.137mm. Most of these "ballaster Caps" and post tops need a shoulder easily fashioned from a 3/16" long section of T2 (.246" OD) body tube.
