    Post SOUTHERN THUNDER 2012

Coming soon to a sod farm near you...

HARA (NAR#403/TRA#80) and MC2 (NAR#589/TRA#134) are hosting Southern Thunder 2012 on June 23rd and 24th, 2012 in Manchester, TN

    FEES:
    1 Day 1 person = $15
    2 Day 1 Person = $25
    1 Day Family = $20
    2 Day Family = $30
    12 & Under Fly Free

    WAIVER:

Standing 14,000 ft (AGL) waiver from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Standing 10,000 ft (AGL) waiver from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

    PARKING:
Parking and Prep Area will be located along the periphery of the sod farm. AUTOMOBILES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SOD!

    NEW!!!! TRACKING:
Even though the farm is all sod this year, mid and high power rockets should use some sort of tracking/location device, either audible or electronic. Failure to do so may result in the RSO disallowing the flight, especially if the rocket contains nose weight, which can damage the farm equipment.
    SKIDMARKS:
It is our intent that all motor types be permitted to fly however, since we are flying on top of someone else's saleable product (sod), weather and field conditions my force us to not allow skidmark motors to fly.

    HYBRIDS:
    No hybrid GSE is provided.
    PADS:
1/4", 3/8”, 1/2” rods, and small and large rails. At least one away pad with large rail is provided.

    VENDORS:
    Huff Performance
    Hudson Classic Hobbies

Exciting raffle opportunity!!! SpaceX donated five (5) Falcon 9 flying model kits for the Southern Thunder 2012 Raffle. Each of the rocket kits is autographed by SpaceX founder Elon Musk. That is exciting! thank you SpaceX and hope everyone participates in the raffle.

    Hey All,

Boy Scout Troop 135 will be at ST12 both days to supply you with some munchables in the field.

    The menu will be:

    Hot Dogs

    Chips

    Sodas

    Water

    Ice Creams

All items conveniently prices at $1 each.

This is a fund raiser for the scout troop and a great convenience to all of us. Please support their troop and stay feed and hydrated at ST12. Stop by their location on the flight line and buy a hot dog, some chips, and a drink.

    Made it!
After a two hour delay because of a semi-truck accident on I-40 just west of the Tennessee River. Fortunately it we came to a stop just west of the rest stop and were able to use the facilities.
Get up in the morning, eat breakfast and go to the fliers' meeting in the morning.

Great both days! Thanks go out to all involved in putting it together.

Sparkies got the green light for the weekend with the caveat that a Nomex blanket be placed around the pad area. And there were certainly plenty. My Honest John on an H170 was one of them.

Okay, folks; start posting those photos and vids...!

    Here are a few pics:

First pic is Range HQ, LCO on the left and RSO on the right with the long line of eager fliers.
Second pic is Ray Cole with his Pencil rocket. It's a conversion of a coin bank (like the crayon banks). He flew it on a G (IIRC).
