Soyuz model from Russian rocketry forum

Take a look at this Soyuz model from one of the Russian rocketry forums.

    http://frms.ru/forum/files/44_1334221872.jpg_195.jpg

We saw some sample parts for this model at the 2010 World Championships, and the large size of this model is designed to take advantage of the recent switch to 1.5kg max mass for the S7 Scale event. I strongly suspect that this will be an entrant at the upcoming World Championships to be held in Slovakia this coming September.

Perusing the pictures found at the link below the beastie appears to be all fiberglass and resin.

What do you think it would take to get such molds made for a Saturn 1b?

That is sweet detail.I would think he has molds.. Just looks too good to be hand laid.
Hey,it looks like the booster chute might not have opened in one photo...No mind.. just a little paint touch up on the glass.

more importantly..who will be the first vendor to import this bad boy?

The model is indeed made from a mold, and it is hand-laid. Detailed masters are made for each component of the model, generally from aluminum, then rubber molds are created from those masters. Those molds are then used to create the lightweight fiberglass parts.

I wouldn't count on the maker offering this as a kit for sale.

The scale rockets in FAI competition are awe-inspiring, and make me feel like a 10-year-old kid decorating my rockets with magic markers all over again, but I think in some ways the break the definition of a "hobby" and get more into "industrial manufacturing."

But hey, if they have the skills and the needed resources to do it, more power to 'em. Those are some awesome models.

    Can you actually ballpark "few"?

I mean are we talking $2,000 or $9,000??

As far as manufacturing a kit, it sounds like there was at least some consideration of mass production. Not all of it makes sense, but here's a Google translation of the first part of the thread:
I invite you to this topic everyone keen on copies of the model family of P-7.

    But new model of Vinnik.

    The model from Belarus

Models of the Unions for over 20 years make, but only now close to mass production
The photo shows the first removal from the mold side of the block.

Very interesting! I would like to know the details of production technology. You have just reached in a class of models, copies and should are already more details to share technology))

Production technology has long known - the calculation of the composite (resin + fiberglass) in the form. On the intricacies of production ... Come learn from the experience.
