    MSB-3K

AKA, the Satellite of Love. I still have some cleanup work to do, and need to install the balsa plug in the nose. But here's my most recent.

I forget what it is called...Plastifoam or something maybe. I got it at Hobby Lobby where all the styrofoam is next to the wreath rings. It's more dense than regular styrofoam and appears to be more durable. It's also a bit heavier.

I cut strips of basswood and lined the inside of the ring with them using 5 min epoxy so the spokes would have something solid to attach to. There's now a balsa plug in the top, so I either have to find and use plugged motors or lose the retainer clip so the motor ejects out. Not sure I want a free falling motor though.

It almost looks like one of the popular old classic space stations.

I see, gonna have to scope them out. What size motor mount? You could just fly it with a reload without the ejection charge.

Do you wear your green lab coat when you work on it?

MST3K ruined my mind for watching movies.

Doesn't matter what film I'm watching, Crow and Tom are muttering bon mots!

    I have to go.

My lungs are aching for air!
Is that supposed to smoke like that?

I remember one night flipping through the channels and seeing Manos: Hands of Fate on. So I thought "cool...mst3k." But it was just the movie itself...not the mst3k showing. I watched as much of it as I could providing my own commentary before having to quit to preserve sanity.

    The mount is 24mm.

I was putting the dog out earlier this evening and noticed that there was no wind. That seems to be a rare thing these days and it looked like I still had a few minutes before the sun was completely set, so I quickly pulled out my launch equipment and loaded the MSB-3K with my last D11-P.

I could not have been more pleased with this launch except if I had done a better job of capturing it on video. It went up nice and smooth and straight. It turned over and came down nice and flat. It bounced a bit on the landing, and made a bit of a loud thud. But there wasn't even a crack in the paint.

Now I've got to find more plugged motors...

Nice flight. You should get a 24/40 reload and see if you can get that to jump into the sky like your Pequad.

    Re: D11-P's

While I PERSONALLY would never do this... nope not me... never... you could pour epoxy into the tops of D12-0's...

Oh course that is in theory... but you did not hear it from me that this works... I mean I have heard, anecdotally that it works... but of course is bad... bad... bad... so don't do it.
