Nice pictures. The rear end of the turbo motor(s) on the TLP kit are different from the rear end of the real deals picture.

    What's up with that?

According to the kit's directions, it covers the Kh-31a/2 version, where the ramjets duct into the former combustion chamber for the solid motor. I found zero information on this version. This picture might be it, it also doesn't seem to have the tubes on the rear fins the other pictures have. The kit doesn't have them either, but really who knows? There are a few other details that are different, it doesn't seem to have that rectangular panel right behind the nose cone, and it's missing a couple bulges on the ramjet tubes. That panel looks like it is recessed, that's lame. Can't think of a way to do that without a whole bodytube overwrap.

I work with a Russian girl and I was finally able to ask her what the writing means on this picture I got from the missile maker's website. As I suspected, she said "before launch, after launch." I provided the word launch though, she wasn't quite sure of the translation and she agreed on it. The tail piece must fall off when the ramjets kick in, making a big difference on which look you are going for.

I was stupid, I should have made all three Krypton posts on the the same thread. I also have all the pix from this thread.

Should I consolidate everything on this thread?

Yes please, it would help to compare features in the photos if they were all in one place.

It seems like a few of these pictures came out really small when I saved them. Sorry about that, not sure what my problem was.

Several diffrences can be picked out and then compared with all the pictures in one place. Thanks for taking the time to post all of them.

My pleasure, I want to share all I can that is worth a hoot. I can fix the really small pictures I think, as soon as I have some time. If any mods are reading this, you can delete my other two posts about the Krypton here in the scale section.

I have to work early for me tomorrow, but wasn't tired so everything is fixed I think. I saved the thumbnails was the problem. Except for the GIF's, don't know what their problem is. They deserve a spanking.

Biggest differences between the kit and these pictures is the nose cone and the tail, that I have seen. The nose cone for the real missile looks like it has a conical section after a nice ogive cone. Perhaps a BT-70 cone, and a tapered shroud would do a better job of representing the real thing. It certainly wouldn't hurt to put some weight up there. I hope someone can chime in on the rear of the A/2 version, because I have nothing.
