One More Step And Big Daddy Is Finished

Thanks to Fishead for the extra set of decals, all four "sides" of my Big Daddy have a sufficient number of decals. It may seem like overkill, but I managed to use them all and I'm fairly pleased with the results.

Now, the only remaining step is the clear protective coat. I used Krylon True Blue Gloss 51910 lacquer enamel as the topcoat, and have a can of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Gloss 51301 that I am a bit afraid to use because I'm not sure of the compatibility.

So, do I spray this on, try to find some clear that is labeled lacquer enamel as well, or go the Pledge with Future route? I'd really like to use this Krylon 51301 as it's a new can, but don't want to "melt" the whole deal by using something that's not compatible with my blue/decals. Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Beautifully done!

I just got myself a Big Daddy a couple of days ago.

Looks nice! Try the clear over the color on a scrap piece first - learned that the hard way too many times...

They look a lot better on there than they did in the box in my shop.

Mine was a Christmas gift for me and my Son. It's also my first venture into anything above a "C" motor. I'm looking forward to it.

Foamy, I'll put her in the gallery just as soon as I get some clear on it.

Beauty! I should get me one of those.

    Looks a lot like a V2, doesn't it?

    Question

I'm a bit confused. I see a lot of enamel vs. lacquer discussions, but the Krylon paint I've been using is listed as a lacquer enamel on the internet, although it doesn't say both on the can. What is the difference, and can the paint be both enamel and lacquer at the same time?

I've took a tip from someone on here and picked up a can of Rust-Oleum crystal clear enamel 7701. I'm going with it this time.

1 vote here for using Future as your clear coat, decal sealer. Never a compatibility issue. I like the way it gives the rocket a nice shine.
