When fitting a baffle in the BT where should it be best installed ? Down close to the top of the motor housing I'd think at a guess but thought I should ask to be sure.
Thanks for any help

I would mount it as high as possible; this will help keep your parachute and shock cord up front, which will improve your CG-CP relationship. Also, depending on your rocket's diameter and how you mounted your shock cord, keeping the baffle high will give you easy access to your cord's point of attachment and allow you to easily replace a damaged cord. Just make sure you have enough room to fit everything inside the tube.

Putting the baffle towards the nose of the rocket also improves baffle life. Having it to close to the ejection charge can be hard on them. Obviously there is the force of the expanding gas from the ejection charge and possibly burning particles too. The further away it is from the motor the longer it will last. You may want to coat the lower sections with epoxy if your baffle is cardboard.

One more thing, try to remember to glue your forward centering ring even with the end of the motor tube. Add an extra ring at that location if nessesary. The only reason I say this is I get really sick of hearing those little bits and bobs that get thrown forward by the ejection charge bouncing around inside the rocket and it is a real challenge to get them out with the motor tube sticking forward of the ring.
