Hahaha, something along those lines...I was thinking of flying my Wildman Jr that I originally certed L1 with (4 years ago) and maybe an H or I. Gizmo on a K for my L2, the Carbon Nightmare with an M-2200 for L3. The theme I'm going to keep is that they're all going to be skidmark motors

    Those all sound good!

Come prepared with non-Skid backups, just in case the field conditions don't allow them. Plus, in Argonia, remember that all skids fly from further out pads (dirt) regardless of motor size.

NAR needs to change the certification, first -- Tripoli doesn't recognize junior certifications.

So, too close to his birthday for the paperwork to catch up. Oh, well, Manny, I don't think you'll have any problem with the flights anyway. Just allow yourself enough time between flights to go and find them... remembering yours tend to go REAL HIGH!!! Have a great birthday. Stlll trying to work my schedule to be there.

I'm definitely going to try to be there. We'll see if it works out, but this looks like it should be a heck of an event.

So I guess I am gonna have to join TRA. Will they accept my expired NAR L2 or will I have to renew with the NAR first? I would like to fly my crossbow that I got at AIRFest 16 out there this year. Seems appropriate for the first flight of the last of its kind.

Your NAR cert has to be current. Or just recertify at AirFest

Even though NAR certification no longer expires?

Doesn't matter to me. I am gonna join both anyways. If I have to re-cert then I have to re-cert.

    Smile First timer here

I will be attending the Airfest and will bring my own camping gear.

Just getting into rockets and will bring what I have that is ready to fly. Might be minus paint though. Paint only adds weight right?

Since this will be my first event, I planned on signing up for the required Tripoli and Kloudbusters memberships when I get to the field. I will send in my event registration via online sooner to get the discount. I would sign up for the groups sooner, but got to focus the available funds towards getting Rocksim 9 and getting engines bought. Do I need those memberships sooner?

Smallest model to fly will be BT-20 based and largest is my F powered Aerotech Wart-Hog.

With all this talk about the big rockets, what about us 44 year old big kids who want to fly smaller stuff? Want to try as many flights as I can.

Won't get to the field until saturday morning. Gotta work friday night but will be packed and head for the field. I take it there will be someone at the field 24hrs? Will stay overnight saturday and head home sunday evening.

Anything else I may need I can probably pick up between now and event time. Will probably need to find some of the wadding insulation material there.

Can't think of anything else to ask but I know the questions will come to me before event time.

    See you all there,
    Rod

    Rod,
Glad your planning on making it to Argonia.
You don't need to be a Kloudbuster Member to launch at Airfest, but I am sure the Kloudbusters wouldn't hold you back from joining. The only membership you need is a Tripoli membership, but that is mainly because it has all 4 days as research. I am not sure if you have to have the Tripoli Membership first to register but you will need it to fly. You could send a personal message to BBrown from this site and he could clarify that, or Even Troj can probably tell you. If your funds are low the money you would save on joining Kloudbusters could go to pre-registering for airfest.

Airfest is a blast!!! you will never regret going.

    Rod,

Glad to hear you are coming. To answer your questions, like G2 said, anyone over 18 must be a TRA member to fly with us at any motor class. G and under flyers do not need to preregister but will need to register on-site to check for TRA membership and get a flyers badge. G and under flyers fly for free. TRA memberships will also be available on-site. Wadding (a big barrel of dog barf) is also provided on-site free of charge.

Many of us camp out every night. There are people there every night from Thursday on. One side note. There is no potable water available or power available for camping.

Also if money is tight for you, try the free simulation and design software out there. RASAero http://www.rasaero.com/ or Open Rocket http://openrocket.sourceforge.net/

If you have anymore questions just let me know.

Actually got into the rocket hobby from going to the last LRDS event at the Argonia field. Wondered the venders and picked up the Wart-Hog kit and included with the kit was a RMS 24/60 case and a package of reloads. Since then the fleet has expanded quickly. At least a dozen that are ready to fly and several more in various states of completion. Was told at the hobby shop just this past saturday while picking up yet another kit, that all rocketeers have several "projects" going. And will probably find something I will have to take home from Airfest.

It's not the lack of funds, but spreading it out and getting the program and motors needed first, so I am not just guessing at buying motors. I have a few models in the Rocksim just ran out on the trial time and now that the new version 9 is out, will get it first and start getting motors and supplies ready.

Won't be too hard to find as long as weather stays dry. Probably be the only flyer pulling a camper with a motorcycle. Got a camp out to attend the weekend before Airfest then I am up for attending as many launches at Argonia that I can make to finish out the season.

    Thanks, see ya at Airfest

Speaking of that. Anyone knows how long it takes to get approval? I sent my request on 6/26 and haven't heard anything yet.

Just wondering if this is normal or if I need to make some calls
