I believe he already has the rocket built (which is permissible under Tripoli).

    AIRFest 18 Hotels Update

We have heard from some out-of-town flyers planning on attending AIRFest that the small hotels nearest the Rocket Pasture are pretty well all booked for Labor Day weekend. I was able to negotioate a special rate with the Best Western Airport Inn & Conference Center in Wichita for AIRFest weekend. This is the same hotel used during LDRS 27 and LDRS 30.

Rooms will be $72.99+tax per night and that rate includes all the great BW ameneties, including breakfast. To get this special rate, you must book your reservation with the hotel directly by calling 888-942-5666 or 316-942-5600 and tell them you would like the "AIRFest" rate. The hotel is located in west Wichita near the airport at 6815 W Kellogg (US 54), Wichita, Kansas 67209

You can learn more about the Best Western Airport Inn & Conference Center by browsing to: http://bestwesternkansas.com/hotels/...ference-center but please remember, you cannot book the "AIRFest" rate from the web-site - you have to call them.

    Thanks, --Lance.

The Wildman has sweetened the pot........30% off your next reload with the purchase of the N-5800......

The goal is to get Vern's Saturn 1B into the air and four N-5800's are required. Have you been thinking about purchasing one of these awesome motors? This might be the time to take that step and take advantage of a good deal. Do you have an N-5800 and want to donate? Send us an e-mail at editor@libertylaunchsystems.com

As stated above, AIRFest 18 will take place at the Argonia Rocket Pasture from August 31, 2012 through September 3, 2012. AIRFest 18 will be the "Ultimate Scale Rocket Launch" as we are expecting some of the grand-daddies of all amateur scale rockets to take to the Kansas skies. Some information on Steve Eve's Saturn 1B and Vern Hoag's Saturn 1B has already been posted here - more to be posted later as we hear of other large scale rockets coming to AIRFest 18.

The web-site is now on-line and folks can pre-register for AIRFest 18, order t-shirts, and obtain all the necessary information.

The site is located at http://www.kloudbusters.org/airfest/Default.aspx

Just a few things to point out:
    • The local hotels are full (or nearly so) due to a large amount of construction work in the south-central part of Kansas. We have made arrangements with the Best Western Airport Inn and conference Center in Wichita for a great discounted rate for AIRFest 18 weekend. Details are on the web-site.
    • The Saturday Burger Blast is included with each flyer registration. You can order extra tickets for the Burger Blast for friends and relatives for only $5.
    • Pre-ordering t-shirts from the web-site guarantees you will get one. On-field availability may be limited.
    • We don't have a way to process credit cards at the field. If you want to pay with a credit card, please pre-register and you can use your credit card via PayPal. You even get a nice discount if you pre-register.

Folks who have flown with KLOUDBusters before know the drill: big waiver + great weather + great big rockets = BIG FUN at Argonia for AIRFest.

Without a doubt, one of the coolest rocket tee shirt designs yet. I would suspect that those three rockets are just the tip of the iceberg of what we'll be seeing at this years AIRFest.

    Shane,

I'm not Lance but I'll take a shot at answering this.

The Kloudbusters have had a notification procedure in effect for flights above 25,000'AGL for quite some time.

You will need to fill out the following document 30 days before the launch. The form can be found here: http://www.kloudbusters.org/airfest/...KBHiAltApp.doc

Submit it to prefect (at) kloudbusters (dot) org and we normally have an approval or disapproval back to you in less than a week.

    See you at Airfest,

Always have fun traveling to Kansas - I'm in and so is Heather. Already have my room booked and a couple motors that I would'nt fly in Pickrell - a K1200 White Thunder for the Mad Dog and a K740 Cstar for my Wildman.

Your on your on! Argonia would be the perfect place to send those rockets out of sight and I still have a J350 to fly in it. Hey what do you think would happen with a J570 in it? I just simmed it - how about almost 9000 feet and mach 1. Now that would be cool and the only place I know of that I wouldnt be afraid to try it - especially with a tracker. I do have a 38-1080 casing?

    Scott,
The race is set! I plan on flying a J600 so we should be evenly matched. I flew mine on a J410 and got 6800' feet so a J600 should be fun.

I also plan to fly a minimum Diameter Wildman Jr on a K motor to over 15,000'.

    Should be fun.

Ok, I will be flying on a J825 Redline. I flew my 3 inch Wildman last year on that motor for my first dual deploy flight and it was really cool. With the Wildman Jr, those rockets are going to scream! All this talk of Argonia is making me want to head down for Sweaty Balls!

We all do, Manny. Since I'm currently NAR only, I'm not entirely sure how Tripoli's certification procedures work, but you may be able to skip L1 and go right to your L2 cert flight. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think since you are already NAR L1 (Jr), on your 18th birthday you automatically become a full-fledged L1 under NAR. Tripoli and NAR recognize each other's certifications, so you should also be L1 under Tripoli. Happy Birthday!

I'd be cautious of this -- Tripoli recognizes the Level 1, but not a junior Level 1. Since HQ needs proof of the certification, there needs to be a copy of a NAR card that shows Level 1, not the junior Level 1.

NAR needs to change the certification, first -- Tripoli doesn't recognize junior certifications.
