    Old Estes

Anyone remember the old Estes kit with the ring around the base of the fins? What was it called? Someone asked me, and I can't remember.

    Astron Sprite.

Fliskits makes a 'variation' of the Sprite called the TumbleWeed, and a lot of people have made "upscale" Sprites.

Starlight? But it also had another ring higher up on the tube.

Forgot about that one. I've never seen one, but I remember the plan. Wonder if Semroc has the laser cut balsa for this one?

I seem to recall plans for an upscale Sprite in one of the NAR yearbook thingies from about two maybe three years ago.

There's also a review on EMMR that covers a 2X upscale. That's a good size because you can kitbash a Baby Bertha kit and make one of your own. As it turns out, I have a small length of 4" LOC body tube handy...hmmmmm...
    Kit (AKA Cranky Kong)
Total Total Impulse as BAR: 7,753.69 Ns (Equivalent to a 51% M motor.)

    =| Calirado, Colofornia...what's the diff anymore? |=

We've had many people buy the parts to clone one. http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts/...arts.asp?ID=16

    Yes,

I have two SEMROC Sprites waiting for paint sitting on my den bookcase They are so cool, going to have to order more parts for a couple more. Will be great for demonstrations with our local youth club.

I have an upscale of the Sprite. I believe it was from Hawk's Hobbies.

The problem with actually cloning a Sprite is finding any of the "shorty" Series III 18mm x 1.75" motors.

Those weren't big sellers even when they were on the active roster, so when Estes deleted them from the lineup some 40 years ago, there weren't stashes of thousands of them sitting around.

Semroc has shorty motor adapter cases into which you can glue a 13mm motor for this purpose. http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts/...?idproduct=311

Estes now has those red plastic adaptors for mini to standard motors. You just have to cut the top part off and tape or glue it around a mini motor.
