As a resident of the area for some 37 years, I can tell you that there ain't much on the west side.
We used to have some GREAT hobby shops back in the 70s but they have all gone away, one by one. About all that is out there now are some sections of model rocketry products in some of the area craft stores, and a few (even smaller) sections of rocketry stuff in some of the RC hobby shops.
Sorry, sounds like that Dallas location is your best bet. (I have not checked out the resources in Arlington or the H-E-B area lately.) You may have to plan ahead and mail order some stuff to make sure you have the kits/parts/motors you need.
