Back in hobby after years (decades?) Away

Been lurking here for a while, BAR, have been in the RC nitro hobbies for the last 20 years. The build is my favorite part of most hobbies, and I have to say, love the LPR/MRP rocketry, compared to RC it is so inexpensive. Love that i can do it with my family, have HUGE soccer complex for flying field 3 blocks from home. I have learned, may say relearned, a ton of stuff reading on here.

Its along the lines of buying a rocketry book but better! Im the same , rc trainer planes , fully aerobatic low wingers onto hellis far to costly so here I am Rockets. £40.00 can have you 6 flights with your first rocket.

I think many if not most BARs have had a "hiatus" of several years to a decade at one point or another. I went about 18-19 years at one point with little to no rocketry involvement.

But later I realized that even when I was for all intents completely out of it, I would still see things in dime stores, etc etc., and think, "that would make a good part for a rocket."

If you have a good flying field within walking distance, you have achieved almost complete nirvana!! I spend a lot of time reminiscing about the good old days when I was a kid and I could ride my bike to launch rockets.

    Now ...

--- I live next to a park where I have flown some A/B models, but anything bigger is tree-bait.

--- There's a high-school field a couple miles away where I know some people fly, but again there are a lot of geographical hazards (trees, wires, buildings, nearby roads).

--- After that, it's about a 25-mile drive to the field where I usually fly.

So if you've got a field nearby to fly, I'd say go crazy!

Yeah, we are pretty lucky...can walk to the soccer in less than 10 minutes.

only trees are in a cemetary to the south, farm fields on the other 3 sides. Soccer complex in top left of map.

Also, for the most part, the people on this forum are way nicer than the RC forums.

Welcome back Scott! The hobby starts out inexpensive, but one can get carried away, like any other hobby.

Welcome back to being a Rocketeer!
    And to this forum.
Don't forget, the only dumb question is the question not asked and costs you time, money and more.
We seam to be like one big family here as I have learned.
    Totally...Enjoy
