    Rustoleum Paint "Gun"

Was not sure about this product or similar items from other brands. I approached with a healthy amount of suspicion thinking that it was merely another one of those "gimmicky" devices like the "Slap Chop" or "Clapper."

However, at only about $7.00 I thought I would take the chance. Very sturdy plactic construction and grips the can very well. Rubberized grip assures confortable grip. It also jeeps your hands away from the paint nozzel keeping them clean.

Now after using it I AM SOLD!!!! It is a fantastic product and I love using it now.

Also, my boys (10 and 11 years old) have trouble holding the can and applying constant pressure to the spray button. This little item solves that problem. The pictures below are of my 12 year old (Brendyn) and he has no problem painting his rockets now. The last picture is of him holding his just completed Defcon 1 from Quasar One Rockets.

So if any of you have "small hands" in the house or just want more confortable easy painting, this is a great item to pick up. You should be able to find it at Lowes, Home Depot or other home supply store.

Does that just fit Rustoleum brand cans or will it fit others like Duplicolor...I think they have similar nozzles? Not sure because I haven't compared them

    Love it

Love the rocket.. Very nice.... Hope it flys as nice as it looks.

As for the handle, I have been using one for a while now and it works much better than the spray tips they give you. I find i can get a better coats and a bit more consistincy in the mist.

I wonder if they sell replacement tips for the spray cans that better atomize the paint ?

If anyone knows please let me know.

    Tom

    P.S. Keep him building !!!

Looks as if it will work on all cans with standard spay buttons. I know the Valspar cans have a unique top so probably won't work.

That's cool I'll have to get one. I was at Home Depot Saturday just never thought to get one...thanks for the post and review. I have a smaller one that I bought for the small Testor's paint cans and have used it on larger cans, but I'm sure it doesn't compare both in size and results.

Good news is that it also works on the smaller Testors cans too ... the metallic dark red on my son's rocket above is a Testors lacquer from a small can.

It is with a health y heart and great sorrow that I announce that after two great flights of his first rocket, my son's rocket (above) was lost as trial Ute to the sky gods.

First flight was a D12-5 was straight and high but drifted a ways in the breeze we had today.

Second flight was on a E9-6 and went straight up and almost out of sight. Unfortunately we had a good deployment at apogee and a perfect chute opening .... and it drifted away ... away ...... never to be seen again

    Auto Correct FAIL!

I turned that off on my phone almost from the start.

Tell your son his sacrifice to the Thermal God HUNG was deemed worthy and get busy on another bird.

I prefer the "Comfort Grip" by Rustoleum and have two of them. The trick to using them properly is to open the jaws, slip them over the can, and then squeeze the jaws firmly shut with the other hand.

The one in your link will fit the occasional Rusto rattlecan that has the dome lip attached too close to the top of the can. This is saved my bacon exactly once but when you need it, you REALLY need it.

I've had mixed success with the Comfort Grip version. I recently used it with some Rusto fluorescent paint, and it worked well. But I tried using it on a can of 2X primer yesterday, and the can kept popping off. I switched to the economy handle, and that one worked fine. The problem I have with the economy handle, though, is that the cans rotate in the handle. I have to keep turning it back to keep it spraying straight. Still, I always use one handle or the other. Makes painting much more comfortable, and affords better control.

    Thanks for posting this, Jason.

Thanks for that tidbit! I never would have even tried it. I picked one up the other day for the massive amount of primering I'm going to do and in the 'Orange' thread said how much I liked the Testor's Comp Orange. Now I can shoot in comfort without the colored fingertip! Cheers!

I'm usually left holding the bag. If I got a Right bag, maybe it would be better.
Why is it a launch lug? They are usually too small to carry your rocket to the pad with.
Why do I need an altimeter that talks back to me? I can get that at home.
