    Dead Nose Cones

I'm a tail cone guy. It seems that just about everything I design (and sometimes actually build) ends up having a tailcone.

I've constructed them a few different ways, but in the end the easiest way is usually to invert a nose cone and cut off the tip. Most of my interest is light/mid power scratch built rockets, generally 1.5"-3.0"ish. And so, since plastic/fibreglass cones end up being one of the higher priced items in my raw materials, having two per rocket makes things expensive.

It occured to me that some of you out there might have a damaged nose cone or two in your stash box that might be taking up space (if you generally don't convert them to tailcones). Sometimes after a lawn dart we all keep the bits thinking, "someday" and then that day never comes and the thing has been sitting in a box for who knows how long.

    So.

Anyone have any cones with tips broken, or cracks, or otherwise damaged that you might want to part with? Cheap?
Again, anything from about 1.25"-5" or so would be of interest to me - plastic or fibreglass mostly. Even undamaged is okay - it might be an odd shaped close-out that you've had for a while but probably won't use for a "real" nose cone.

Recycle! Reuse! Let me convert your old, broken, or orphaned nose cones to tail cones! It's green! It's earth-friendly!
(and it allows me to get my parts cheap.)

    thanks, s6

Since I wanted to offer my rocketry class a choice of nose cones for their scratch builds based on Surefire X-13 kits, I have a handful of the stock cones sitting around and will probably have twice as many after doing the class again next year (it's still cheaper to buy the kits and extra nose cones than to get seperate parts). The only catch is that they're 1" (BT50 7.5cm ogive to be exact). If you're interested, send me a PM. If not, I was thinking of unloading them cheap on ebay anyway... but now that you gave me this great idea, I'll be keeping a couple for the same purpose. Thanks!
