    "A" Superroc

Just wanted to relay my 1st experience with "A" superroc, in preparation for our "Snowball Open" next month. Had two launches. Rocket came in @ 150cms,(max). Bottom was about 10" of BT-5; Then I made a "piston" on the end of a carbon fiber rod, about 3/16" transitioning to 1/8" . Flew quite well but, separated. Got some good 20 lb dacron this time , instead of the cheap fishing line I had. Hopefully will get a qualified flight, next time out. Has anyone else trioed these ultra thin fiber rods?

I'm just curious about the weight. Did you weigh the components?

Was this A Superroc Altitude? Also, may I suggest using kevlar thread for your shock cord - it is much more reliable than fishing line (which, in my experience, has a very low melting point). If you don't have any kevlar thread, you would be better off with 100% cotton carpet thread. You could even treat it with borax to make it more flame resistant, although I've never had much charring when using cotton thread. If you feel that you need some elasticity, you can add a few feet of 1/8" sewing elastic at the forward end, but make most of it either kevlar or cotton.
