Wow, that red, kinda magenta, looks amazing. Nice color sky for the background too.

Here are some pics. The full album is available here: https://picasaweb.google.com/1139771...eat=directlink As always, image reuse is granted to those flying, MDRA, and those vendors in attendance.

My Lil Crayon post-flight (plastic chutes didn't want to inflate in the cold) Also notice the missing motor. Used masking tape to retain (and it help to deploy) by it was missing upon landing.

Camo rockets + cornfield = Was this ever found? I know it was still being searched for when I was out looking for mine.

A very Merry Christmas, MDRA style

Tree with the motor on top (L666 skid) was Robert Dehate's. Any more pics of THAT one??????

That was a twelve beer build

It was also the only one with active recovery (although it didn't get the chance to deploy).

There are still a few more at that link I posted before.

Being downwind of that one, I must say that the smell of spent APCP co-mingled with scorched pine was rather delightful

And the second flight, L powered bottle rocket. w00t

These videos show how good the visibility was for this launch. With my Competitor 5, I was able to visually track the rocket to 11,000'. My smoke grain (cast in 54mm liner tube, 1.25" long) burned beyond apogee and several seconds into the descent, but I was able to track the rocket visually once the grain burned out.

Now if only it had been slightly warmer and a little less windy...

Mine was also active recovery, but it's 'Stealth' since the chute cannon hides inside the tree. For the 4th year in a row, the chute failed to deploy in time to open, but there is it is giving it an effort. I could not see when ejection happened from where I was through the smoke.

The top of the tree snapped off when it hit the ground so next year I have to get a new one

Nice flight Gary! I see that it found the only ditch on that side of the field. Did the rocket get wet? What does your altimeter say for data?
