Hope it flies better than the paint stuck.

Ready to get this project off the bench.

Here's the first one I built. I don't recall a build thread. The interstage is Bare Metal Foil. The simulated motor vents are clipped from some 1" vinyl lettering.

Here's my BT-20 sized, mini-engine powered version.

I made another Sandia Door Knob. This one has a 4 inch airframe and a 38mm motor mount. It stands just a hair over 36 inches and weighs in at 2.6 pounds. Rocksim says 950' on a G80 and 3000' on an I211. I'm not a Level 2 so I didn't bother with any J sims.

Here are my other Door Knob 1's, BT-50, BT-80, and 4" for comparison:

Welcome to the SCALE (Sandia) Doorknob Gallery on TRF.

This gallery showcases the (Sandia) Doorknob and those rockets derived from it. Particularly appropriate in this thread are the following:

MFG: MODEL: NUM

as well as any upscales, downscales, clones, kitbashes or other derivative works. Even Goonies qualify!

American test vehicle. Test vehicle developed by Sandia for aeronomy measurements during atmospheric nuclear tests. One (Doorknob-1) or two surplus Lacrosse (Doorknob-2) missile motors were mated with the payload section.
