Launch of the day at Midwest Power

I was hoping to test a new formula for a long-burn red / white smoke propellant in an art applewhite saucer.

Instead I built the worlds longest long-burn motor, or as Tim said, a road flare.

Sorry about they shaky video - I was doing a lot of laughing..... I swear, the formula tested great in my back yard

Final photo of the rocket and motor before going into the dumpster

    back to the drawing board.

In the video it looks like the rod and blast shield fell off the pad. Did you melt it?

    Alex,

Saw this one from my tent. Too bad.

BTW, remind me never to load a pad next to one of your rockets

That was wild Alex! Were the motor's bulkhead and nozzle salvageable? Good entertainment anyway!

Sorry to say nothing was recovered.

The aft end melted, entombing the nozzle forever. I watched a fountain of fire come out of the forward closure - even if I could have gotten it off, I would have never trusted it again.

Mark Fox managed to get a couple of cool photo's of the rocket burning.
