    FlisKits: Revamped Rhino kit!

FlisKits recently revamped our classic Rhino kit!

Originally using two 2" long launch lugs that need to be carefully aligned, we have switched to a single 6" long lug to greatly reduce assembly errors with our younger builders. Some times it can be harder than all git-out getting those little lugs aligned and that has always been a concern with a beginner kit like the Rhino.

This new feature takes that frustration away and adds to the simplicity of this wonderful kit. In addition to this we have revamped the documentation and given the kit packaging NEW CLOTHES! Check it out below. Still "Big-n-Bad with an attitude", but with new colors

Ooo! I like the colors scheme!

Looking at the picture on your site, is that a different nose cone or is it just the angle?

Fliskits need to make an Elephant rocket. Then I could kit bash it with a Rhino and have a Elephino....

Yea, I gotta fix that... Hope to update the page to match the new cover art. That (on the site) is a picture of the original proto type. I didn't have the design nailed down yet and that was a cone I had available to me. at nearly 7" long, when I priced it out I nearly died... LOL So I shortened it to keep the price reasonable, hence the shorter cone on the cover art and in the actual kit...

I purchased one of these 'new' Rhino kits from Jim at NARAM-54.

I didn't have enough purple paint to finish the model as shown on the package facer card.

So I looked for inspiration to find a similar finishing scheme. My friend Scott Branche had designed the High-Q model for Quest Aerospace and I liked that paint scheme.

Several making and painting sessions later, I finished the model.

First flight will be this Saturday if it doesn't rain (60% chance).

    Here you go, Jim.

I flew my new FlisKits Rhino model at the SCRA launch in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 1st.

The model had an Estes B6-4 motor installed.

The flight was fine and the parachute deployed without issue. One of the fins had about one inch of the end of the fin break off upon landing. It was a very clean break, surprising with the grain going along the leading edge.

The model has been repaired and may get some touch-up paint before it's next flight.

I flew my FlisKits Rhino for a second time December 16th at the SCRA launch in Los Angeles.

This time I used an Estes C6-5 motor. Much better flight and no damage.

    Very nice

If you've never built an earlier version, let me assure you that the 6" launch lug is MUCH nicer than trying to align two of them along the body tube
