Has any one heard or seen any updates on Estes and Quest getting into the mid power market? I have seen some of the Quest mid power F kits but nothing else so far , this has been talked about for a while but have yet to see any motors ?, Jim

Estes will be coming out with 'rebranded' Aerotech motors sometime in the near future.
Quest was supposed to be releasing large (Chinese IIRC) BP motors but I think that fell through. Now I hear they'll be releasing German composite motors in the MPR range, but I haven't heard a date yet. Quest has announced several plans to distribute larger engines in the past, all of which have been vaporware. I'd believe it when I see it.

I always considered some of the Estes kits to be MPR. I fly many of their 24mm kits on 24/40 composite E & F motors. In a lot of cases, the only mod I make is to file down the forward end of the motor hook before assembly so the 24/40 case will fit.
The StormCaster on an F24W is an awesome flight!

Yes I think everyone should have a Fat Boy with at least a 29mm mount , but Im hopeing to see a black powder F or a Estes composite G mostly because I would LOVE to see these motors at places like Hobby Lobby!Jim
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see prototypes of this upcomming motors at the International Toy Fair at Nuremberg, Germany (see my website for a report). They will be made by Robert Klima in Germany. The initial release date was 2011 but there is a delay with the manufacturing machine so I guess we won´t see them before late 2012 or even 2013.
However, the motors are very fine, having solid casings and precise nozzles. I attach a few photos but please remember, they are prototypes only!

will they include the green fuses I see on the table ?

For the German and European market, yes (under the Klima, not the Quest label). In the US, it will be different. However, you may ignite them (different to currently available composites from other manufacturers) with standard electrical igniters as well. You may also cluster and stage the same way as black powder engines.

It will be neat if these actually come to market and if Quest actually releases the second stage option for the High-Q. From what I understand, the High-Q was originally designed as a 2-stager (photos of the prototype are in the gallery) however they never got the 29mm BP motors to market for it to be usable.

I love America but I also love Canadian bacon, whiskey, and MOTORS.
Quest is in contact with Klima (Bill was in Germany last year) so all specifications are coordinated with them. The new Klima engines may be clustered or staged like black power engines (but they are actually composites).
The High-Q I saw at the fair, however, was a one stager.

I look forward to the new Quest motors.
Here's a picture I took at the NARAM-50 Manufaturer's Forum of the prototype Quest High-Q two-stage model.

@Zonie, possible you mean "Held 1000"? This engine is not from Klima, it is manufactured by Weco Germany.
@JPVegh, according to Robert Klima, the pricing for his new engines should be less than what we currently pay for Weco engines in Europe (for example, about 1,20 Euros for an "A" - 1 Euro = 1,30 US-$).
In the case of midpower engines, current pricing for AT reloads is between 15-20 Euros for "F". The new Klima F´s should be less. However, I have no idea what Quest will charge for them in the US later.
