    Angry It got scooped up

    Hi Jeff,

This is the scoop on the Hawk it looked great, flew great, intercepted mid recovery. I took these yesterday. It is still there. If you find the Neon Green chute the rocket is below and left in both, the motor retainer is black and stands out at bottom of tail cone. We know what went wrong and it will not happen again we have all that field and we are going to use it.

Were you able to get it? I know they are expensive but you might be able to persuade the club to buy up some fiberglass fishtape rods and tape them together, or even dowels. How high up is it?

Jeff it is 30+ feet up, and no we have not retrieved it yet. Mike the owner has lost three or four and we know where they are it is just getting to them. We will get them!

While they are a little wobbly, I wonder if those long fiberglass tent rods, you know, the ones with metal furrals (SP?) that fold up, would reach? You'd have to tape a few together. If you have a tent... they are wobbly, but once you get into the branches the branches themselves will keep them moving upwards... good luck! Is the hawk a kit? Scratch? How big?

    bucket truck anyone?

I am not the owner/builder but I hope we can get to it and the other two that are tree sitting. The owner is most concerned, and I would be too, about the motor hardware. I am not sure but if that Hawk is glass it should be fine in rain, but rain and cold like 32 or below might be bad if water has seeped in to glass. I would say the Hawk was 24"+/- tall and had a nice paint job.

Thanks for the compliment on the photos, I set the Oly E-3 on high drive, Shutter priority, and save jpg. in much smaller than RAW file size, so as not to fill buffer, and blaze away at T-2 till liftoff. It sounds like the old Nasa films when they'd say cameras running and shoot probably 1000s of feet of 35mm film in seconds.
