    Almost ready to fly

In keeping with my tradition of long, sloooooooow builds, after three months I'm nearly finished with my latest project. Just a couple more small details (mostly finiting and rigging) and she's ready for the launch pad.

Basic details: 2.9" PML phenolic airframe, 29mm motor mount, 40" tall, mass 25oz. with everything but the motor, 0.125" birch ply fins.
Built mainly to fly F/G motors from 900'-1900', but also sims H/I motors with apogees from 2600' to 4200'.
I may decide to go for my L1 cert with this, but will likely build something else for that.

I've also been simultaneously building another project that is likely to see the light of day in another week or two. I'll post that one when the time comes.

    Anywho, here t'is:

Nice lookin' rocket. Great job on the fade. Did you use spray bombs or an air brush?

    Thanks.

Paint is good (?) old Rustoleum rattle cans. Definately tricky getting good fades with thus, but have to keep things within my means, so...

I kept getting big red splotches on the nose cone just as I was doing the last couple of quick passes - "almost finished, looking good so far, just one or two more little bits, very close to done, SPLAT!......grrrrrr." So I'd start the process over - again - and keep my fingers crossed. The nose cone actually was done over 5 times before I got it. In the end though, it actually looks great.

Had lots of stress/trouble with the clear coat to, but that's a given with spray bombs. It's one of those "finish details" that still needs work.
