I'm new to boost gliding. I've made these two. The first one worked so well, it flew away to be never seen again by me. The second needs trimmed with some more nose weight, lots of porpoising. The left one was my first; the right, my second.

One thing I did learn is that the nose cone on the boost rocket needs to have some mass to it for the booster and glider to separate. My first attempt was with a super light nose cone and had no separation.

Usually on my pop pods I make it so if you put the pod on and hold the glider, the pod should fall away all by itself. If it doesn't, get in there with a sanding stick and make it a little looser.

For 13mm motors normally balsa, but I've also used lightweight vacform plastic. For 18mm usually balsa as well. I don't add any noseweight to them.

When I used balsa, it worked, but when I used the super-light competition nose cone, it didn't.
